Wood energy
The history of wood energy begins with the primeval campfire. Today significantly more efficient technologies are available to use wood to produce heat and electricity. Almost 6 percent of the German heat consumption was covered by wood energy in 2007. In view of rising prices for fossil energy sources, much undeveloped potential is available from forest and waste wood for heat generation.
