Value creation for communities
According to researchers at the Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW) and the Centre for Renewable Energies of the University of Freiburg (ZEE), a minimum of 6.8 billion euro were invested in renewable energy technologies in local communities in the past year. The study examined profits, incomes and tax payments of renewable energy investments. The value creation effects for communities was based on 16 different technologies - from wind energy and photovoltaic systems to biogas plants, geothermal heat pumps and biodiesel production.
