Heat from renewable energy

Renewable energy provides warm homes. It reduces dependence on fossil energy sources and creates protection against ever-increasing costs. Rising oil and gas prices are particularly noticeable in heating costs. Home running costs have become a second rent charge. With a solar heating system, wood pellet heating or a geothermal heat pump, detached and multi-family dwellings become independent of fossil fuels. Housing estates and town districts can be efficiently supplied with heat from biogas or wood via local heat supply networks.

It is already cheaper to heat with renewable energy - even if the initial purchase of such an installation is more expensive than an oil or gas heating system. However, rapidly increasing prices mean that renewable heat costs less over the life of the heating system.

At present, renewable energy covers 9.8 percent of total German heat requirements. Around 140,000 wood pellet heating systems, 400,000 heat pumps and more than 1.5 million solar heating systems are installed in German houses.
