Renewable energy sources in figures - national and international development

Berlin, December 2008. "Renewable Energies in Figures" has been published by the Federal Environment Ministry every year since 2002. It provides the latest facts and information on the development of renewable energies in Germany, the European Union and throughout the world.

The report clearly demonstrates how the Renewable Energy Sources Act (Erneuerbare-Energie-Gesetz, EEG) has become a driving force behind the growth of renewable energies in the electricity sector. With a renewables' share in gross electricity consumption of 14.2%, Germany already overtook the Government's 2010 target of 12.5% in 2007.
