Workshop: Strengthening Municipal Resilience: Identifying Challenges, Shaping the Future
Municipalities are at the heart of the energy transition. At the same time, the requirements for a secure, affordable, and climate-resilient energy supply are growing: extreme weather events, rising energy costs, questions of supply security, and limited staff and financial resources are presenting towns and municipalities with major challenges.
Through the PeerConnect project, we are creating a space for exchange between municipalities, experts, and other stakeholders in the energy transition. The goal is to make experiences visible, learn from one another, and jointly develop strategies for greater municipal resilience.
To kick off the planned three-part workshop series, we want to take a joint look at the current situation:
What resilience challenges do municipalities face today?
Planned agenda
- Energy as a democratic protective task – decentralized renewables as a resilience factor
- Keynote by Jakob Schlandt, project lead of the BDEW study "Resilience as a System Requirement for Energy Supply: An International Comparison"
- Practical perspectives from municipalities: Iryna Semenenko from Novovolynsk (Ukraine), [further speaker tbc.]
- Panel discussion
We want to work with you to make current challenges visible, identify municipal needs, and gather insights on energy vulnerabilities and resilience potential in municipalities.
