In 2022 almost 2,7 million people in the European Union worked in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector. The production, installation and running of renewable energy plants as well as the management of energy resources and efficient energy use provide work and income for many people. In the EU the number of jobs related to the energy transition was almost five times higher in 2022 than in 2000. The expansion of renewable energy is an important contribution to a source-efficient and competitive economy in the EU.
