While renewable energies are on the rise in the power sector, progress is missing in the transport sector. Since 2008 sales of mineral diesel in Germany have risen from 28.3 million tons to 36.5 million tons in 2017. The sales of biodiesel have dropped from 3.1 million tons (2008) to only 2.2 million tons (2017). Mineral gasoline sales have declined to some extent, while bioethanol sales have remained constant since 2010.
