Requirements and application
Who can apply?
All European communities that already have cooperation or plan to launch a partnership with a German community can apply. The cooperation should foster the mutual exchange of knowledge related to promoting the energy transition on a local level. The communities involved can be cities, municipalities, local public utilities or local districts. The cooperation does not necessarily need to be a formal twinning agreement. Any form of cooperation or a common letter of intent is sufficient. For better planning, please send us an informal expression of interest in advance. The deadline for application, which needs to be handed in with the German partner municipality, is 15th March 2019.
First experience with projects related to renewable energies or the energy transition on a local level or willingness to put the topic on the agenda.
Willingness to share experience and knowledge in a joint workshop.
Ability to provide a suitable premises to host a workshop.
Willingness to support the project team in the organization and logistic preparation of the workshop
Readiness to travel.
Participation in the kick-off-event in Berlin on 28th May 2019 and at the final event in the second half of 2020.
Representatives from both communities have a sufficient level of proficiency in English to actively participate in the workshops.
How to apply?
Your city would like to participate in the Energiewende twinning towns project in 2019 / 2020? Simply fill out the following form and send it by post, fax or e-mail to the Renewable Energy Agency until the 15th March 2019. It is a nonbinding letter of intent, which does not guarantee a project realization or participation. In addition the letter of intent does not impose any obligations on the municipalities or local public utilities. It primarily serves to identify the need for the coming years.
